Our students do not live in a bubble. Classroom lessons should be relevant and reflect the constant social, cultural, environmental, political and economic changes which happen in our world. Examining the impact on both our students’ lives and of others assists students to develop a broader global sense of self. HSIE prepares students to be active citizens of the future and the leaders of tomorrow. 

The aim of the Stage 5 Human Society and Its Environment  Syllabus is to provide opportunities for students to learn about Aboriginal Studies, Commerce, Geography, History, International Studies and Language: Japanese.
