ELJam is looking to recruit a team of young volunteers to directly contribute to the planning and delivery of its activities. Volunteers would initially help to define the team's roles and principles and then would help decide which projects and activities ELJam will develop over the coming months. If you would like to have your say and represent the youth voice for the ELJam network, please get in touch.

We were delighted to be invited back to close the Hops in the Garden food and music festival this year. The event took place in the walled garden at the Archerfield estate and was a fantastic day out. This was a fundraiser for Leuchie House so we were doubly delighted to be supporting them.
This year, two prize winners from Haddstock/ELJam's Battle of the Bands performed. We were so proud of Scene One and Studio 28 who performed magnificantly!
This year ELJam had 9 slots available for young musicians to play at Fringe by the Sea. Some of the acts had won a gig by competing in Haddstock's Battle of the Bands earlier in the year.
The line up was:
Mon 5th: Title of Your Mixtape
Wed 7th: Room 5, High Speed Real Estate & About 08
Thu 8th: Magnitude, The Watts, Sixteen Again & Summer Ramsay
Sat 10th: Room 27.
Check out Fringe by the Sea for more details.

The Space Dunbar hosted a session on the afternoon of Sunday 14th July, the last day of the festival. The setting was outdoors at the Bayswell Beach grass area above the main stone stacking spot. Young soloists and small acts were given the chance to perform to the crowds.
The Festival is based in Dunbar and is Europe's largest gathering of land artists and stone stackers, who come together to create art with nature.
For more info about the festival contact Adrian on thespacedunbar@gmail.com or 07470210948
This summer, ELJam partnered with For Kinnaird to host a youth acts showcase as part of their Fringe programme. Five bands performed to the shoppers on a pop up stage with full sound support from DM Audio.
Smaller acts (soloists and acoustic) also had chance to perform with slots available over three weekends between Fri 2 and Sun 18 August.
Wow, wow, wow. We thought last year's lot were talented but this year was phenomenal! 12 bands from 6 ELC high schools. A really fantastic and varied display of styles and song choices. Hige thanks to Murray Briggs for compering, Iain Bruce, Gica Loening, Harley Loudon and Bruce Craigie for being such fantastic judges. And, of course, to Justine Bradd and Beki Dover organising partners in crime!
Bands won prizes including workshops, photo shoots, logo designs, recording studio sessions and gigs at Dunbar Music Festival, Fringe by the Sea and Hops in the Garden.
Well done to:

One of two opportunities for youth bands to perform at Haddstock this year. Newly formed 4-5 piece acts were encouraged to apply for Battle of the Bands but returners as well as larger ensembles and smaller groups were invited to apply for the Arts Service's Newcomer Stage or Haddstock's Acoustic Cafe. In the mix were the Knox Jazz band, the Brunton Performing Arts Network Musical theatre group and some local youth rock bands. Huge thanks the The Brunton and its staff without whom this could never have happened.
QMU is celebrating its local community with a family-friendly day. For info on the event itself, please click here. As part of the celebration they will be unveiling their outdoor learning area “The Howff” and are looking for youth acts to perform. Please note that there is no power in the Howff, so you would need to be able to play acoustically. There may be an opportunity to play indoors, but you would need to discuss this with the organisers. For more info please email Patrick Boxall at QMU.
ELJam is proud to support the Saturday Sessions from The Fraser Centre. This brilliant community initiative offers young people the chance to perform to a paying audience every couple of months.
For more info on the next Saturday session or to perform visit The Fraser Centre.

Lil, ELCAN & the East Lothian Climate Hub are seeking 2 or 3 musicians/small groups to play at their inaugural Green Futures Festival at Queen Margaret University on 16th March between 10am and 3pm. You would be playing in the public spaces at QMU alongside other festival activities, so would suit acoustic groups or acts with minimal set up. ELJam may be able to support with a small PA but ideally you will have your own kit. The audience for the day is a mixture of community groups, local politicians and the public - there's a programme of talks, workshops and family friendly activities you are welcome to join in with. There is food available onsite and Lil can offer you a £5/head food voucher plus travel expenses. They are looking for 2-3 acts. Please complete this form to apply:
