Active Travel for Schools

Walking, scooting or cycling to school can be a really positive experience for both parents and children, and help relieve congestion on busy roads. East Lothian Council’s Active Travel team have developed some resources to help school communities get as many children as possible travelling to school actively. Maybe your school  community would like to support more children to walk? Perhaps they would like to help develop a school-run cycling culture? Or does the school just need a bit of support to reinforce positive approaches to parking? All of these areas are closely related, so your school may wish to consider a package of measures as part of a holistic approach to school travel planning, and the ELC Active Travel team can help with advice on setting goals that are right for your school, while making use of our downloadable guidance documents.
