LMHS Concert Band wins Sweepstakes
The Concert Band participated in the LMEA (Louisiana Music Educators Association) Festival at ZHS this week and came home with the highest rating, winning Sweepstakes. In the last 5 years, only one other school has accomplished this achievement. Mr. Gregory and the band are making waves! Cadet Pvt. 1st Class Jaylah Mark led the Pledge of Allegiance at Thursday's School Board meeting after being named the district's LET 1 Cadet of the Year.

African American History Field Trip
The African American History students took a field trip to Donaldsonville's African American History Museum. Students experienced a range of activities that provided them with a look into the contributions of African Americans over the years.

Prom King/Queen
Saturday night we celebrated Prom with the Juniors and Seniors of LMHS. Congratulations to our Prom King - Howard Gaskins, Jr. and our Prom Queen - Janiya Holmes.
Academic Honor Network
LMHS Juniors and Seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher were invited to attend the Academic Honor Network sponsored by Judge Wilson Fields. Tuesday, LMHS cleaned up with scholarships, technology, and a CAR.
Our scholarship and car winners will be honored Tuesday afternoon in a formal presentation and event by Judge Fields, Mayor Broome, and Superintendent Smith.

Important Information
Senior Breakfast
Senior Breakfast is Wednesday, March 27 at the Crowne Plaza. You will have to check-in and the program and breakfast will begin promptly at 8:30. (We will begin checking-in and seating people at between 7:45-8:00.)
Graduation fees had to be paid in full by March 8. Guests MUST have purchased a ticket in order to attend with the senior.
Transportation will NOT be provided to the Senior Breakfast. Students will not be allowed to leave school without being checked out by a parent. Seniors are encouraged to go with their families directly to the Crowne Plaza for Senior Breakfast. Absences are excused only for the period of the senior breakfast, not for afternoon classes.

The Girls Who Code appliaiton deadline has been extended to March 27th.
Seats for LYS are now 1/2 sold. This is a great leadership development opportunity for students.
The Baton Rouge Branch of the American Public Works Association awards is planning on awarding two $1000 scholarship to high school seniors interested in a career in Public Service. Deadline: May 1.
