The Theater Program has been hard at work the last few weeks. Our talented Fine Arts students are rehearsing in the Blackbox in preparation to perform a thrilling and captivating Flashmob to the iconic “Thriller” by Michael Jackson during our Costumes and Sweets Fashion Show on October 31st while the Set Design classes are busy preparing the backdrop and scenery.

Last week, Ms. Short and Ms. Gyorgy attended the National Librarian's conference. They've brought back some exciting ideas that will soon be showing up in a school library near you!

Important Information
Cell Phone Notice
In accordance with both the EBR Rights and Responsibilities Handbook and the Liberty Magnet Student Handbook, cell phones are NOT allowed to be used in class at any time. This includes listening to music, checking time, using the calculator, watching videos, charging, or texting (including friends and family).
The consequence for a student using a cell phone during instructional time is confiscation of the cell phone. This standard consequence is not contingent upon the cost of the device or ownership of the device.
Confiscated phones must be picked up by a parent from the office on the first offense. On the second offense the student will face increased disciplinary consequences. A student who is caught using a phone during class and refuses to turn in the phone will face suspension as the consequence. *The school does not make notification of a confiscated cell phone.
Liberty Magnet faculty, staff, and administration are in the business of teaching and learning. Cell phones are a significant distraction to that process. The process and discipline related to managing cell phones, including reuniting phones with families, comes second to the main focus of teaching and learning.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Cell phone return will only take place at posted designated times. Administration will only address cell phone issues and the return of cell phones during these designated times each day.
7:30 - 8:00
2:00 - 2:20
2:35 - 2:50
The easiest way for everyone (students, parents, and staff) to avoid the inconvenience surrounding the consequences and reunification process is for students to not use or pull out cell phones during class. Liberty already has one of the most lenient cell phone policies in the district, allowing use during breakfast and lunch shifts, provided students are not using over the ear headphones and only one ear bud.
Noise Complaints
The school has received multiple noise complaints from residents in the neighborhood about the volume of music from cars in the early morning hours. Please talk with student drivers and carpool drivers about keeping music down in the parking lot and neighborhood. One of our core values is Community and we want to be a good neighbor to our community.
Changing Weather
Tuesday the weather will make a dramatic turn.
Quick Reminders:

All senior parents and senior students should secure your FSA ID prior to December. Any parent who currently has an FSA ID for themselves or another child can use the same FSA ID for their senior student. Please use the QR code to obtain your FSA ID. We have also included a document for you to record your logins and passwords and keep in a safe location. Remember, you will be using this information for the 2-4+ years that the student is in college.
