Congratulations to Senior Jackson Lawrence for being named a recipient of the National African American Recognition Award from the College Board for his success on Advanced Placement Tests!
LMHS Library
In case you don't already know, our Library is a centerpoint of our core value of #community. Yes, we check out books - 1,100 so far this year. However, the library is a classroom, a makerspace, a place for study, and a gathering location for different student groups. From books to crafts to conversation to Nintendo, the Liberty Magnet Library (and the AWESOME LMHS Librarians - Ms. Short and Ms. Gyorgy) is a place for everyone!
LMHS Band and Dance is on the move!
After an entertaining and breakout Friday night debut (and preview of the season to come), the LMHS band and dance program was on the move to Houston, TX this weekend. Members of the band attended the HBCU STEM College and Career Fair and Battle of the Bands at the NRG Center. Our programs have been hard at work ALL summer to be ready for the start of performance season.
Important Information
GRADE CHECKS
Due to the interrupted schedules and the fact that many of our new teachers were not granted technology access until this past week, we will NOT be sending home a 3 week progress report.
All parents should regularly log into JCampus Student Progress Center and check student grades and attendance.
You should still expect to receive teacher communication for classes in which students currently have a D or an F.
Busses and Carpool
This week, Liberty has tracked all morning and afternoon routes arriving and departing. While some routes may take 30-40 minutes longer to be covered in the afternoon - all routes have been run.
Carpool has been extremely heavy since the start of the bussing crisis. If your student needs to ride the bus, we expect the consistency of route coverage to continue - please resume using the bus.
If you are driving in carpool, please make sure you are dropping off by 7:05. We have always begun allowing carpool drop-off at 6:40 (usually 6:37) in the morning and traffic during the early hours tends to be much lighter. The last-minute drop-off creates a back-log and Lee Drive traffic jam that (based on previous years) can be avoided if the earlier window is used.
Early Dismissal Phase-Out
The 1:25 early release will phase out after September 8. We expect to return to regular 2:25 dismissal on Monday, September 11.
No checkouts after 12:30 on 1:25 dismissal days.
