Poetry Slam
African American studies students hosted a Poetry Slam at lunch for students to showcase their literary talents in ways that expressed the ideas and themes of Black History Month. #Community #Equity
Support the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy as they fundraise for their Spring Service Project. Eat at Chick-Fil-A on Burbank Friday or Saturday. Mention the Liberty CFA Leadership Academy during the times in the flyer and our student team will get 20% of the proceeds to fund their project.
The LMHS Band held a lock-in in order "lock-in" to their concert competition music. Thanks to the guest conductors and the Band Booster Club who fed and chaperoned.
Library Book Reviews
Check out our student written book reviews here!
Ms. Gonzales is our first teacher submitted book review! Read it here! She checked out one of our new books, read it, and wrote us an awesome review. Thanks Ms. Gonzales!
Come by the library - let's read!
Important Information
Areas We Need to Address
Parents, as the school year moves through, we sometimes have to reemphasize rules and expectations that are already in the books by start to be treated too casually. We are quickly approaching the testing season (2 weeks away) and we must be vigilant in doing right and keeping focus on instructional opportunities.
Please emphasize this to your students as we will be making these points of emphasis for our students:
Students need to be at school on time and they need to be in class on time. Checking in late, arriving at the bell and being tardy, and consistently leaving school early impact attendance and a student's access to instruction and also adds exponential burden to our teachers as they have to catch the student up.
Students are NOT allowed to bring food onto campus in the mornings. Please do not check your student in with breakfast to take to class.
Students may not receive food deliveries - this includes parents or family members dropping off food during lunch shifts. Students who receive food deliveries, regardless of the "deliverer" will be subject to the same disciplinary consequences as students who use a food delivery service.
Dress code is in place and enforced. As the weather gets warmer, please remember that students must wear shirts with sleeves, even when they are wearing a jacket (no tank tops, spaghetti straps, etc.)
Students must wear their school ID at all times. Students who take off their ID and place it in their pockets or book sacks are subject to disciplinary consequences.
Restroom breaks are for 7 minutes between classes and for 30 minutes during lunch, not during the instructional time. There will be a significant curtailing to the number of students being released during the class period. This is a significant safety issue for us on many levels. (The time in class is no different than the length of a car trip to New Orleans with no stops.)
Testing and Test Prep
The week of March 4, we will be participating in school-wide test prep for ACT and LEAP. All students will receive assignments for a 4 day test prep session specifically tied to their testing requirements. The assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. Test prep sessions will take place during the "activity" session on a morning activity schedule.
ACT & PreACT Testing
All students on campus will take the ACT (11/12), ACT WorkKeys (12), or the PreACT (9/10) March 12 or 13. Due to the size of the testing groups and the number of staff required to administer the tests, students will test at least one day and will have asynchronous virtual assignments posted on any non-testing day. Test assignments will be emailed to students later this week.
ACT is used for College Admissions, TOPS Eligibility, and Final Exam Exemptions
ACT WorkKeys is used by some students for Final Exam Exemptions
PreACT is used for determining if the student must take ACT Prep in the 11th grade and for Final Exam Exemption Eligibility.
You will be able to verify your student's testing and virtual assignment by having them pull up the email from their EBR Student Email Account. This is the only way testing information will be sent to students and families.

Support our Seniors
We are working hard to ensure our Senior Class enjoys the traditions and activities of previous years. Unfortunately, much of the previous year's senior activities were funded by a grant that no longer exists.
If you or someone you know would be interested in having their business donate monitarily or services, please let us know. You can reach out to Ms. Thanni-Irvin at nthanni@ebrschools.org.
