For your final you will be creating a poster promoting a concert. Choose a musical artist and create a poster that tells excited crowds when and where they can see the show. The imagery should be bright, exciting, and fully represent the vibe of the artist and show you choose. Apply everything you have learned this semester to make a truly awesome poster. This is a poster for a made up concert, so be creative!
Specifics and Requirements:
Scale and size:
- The poster will be 8x10 inches so that we can print them if we choose.
- Set Photopea to 150 DPI
Imagery:
-There must be at least one figure that has been heavily modified in its color, style, effects, and pieces. (for example, you may not crop an image of an artist or figure and place it on your poster without modifying it entirely.) Try out different hue/saturation, levels, effects, and cropping tools to edit your figure. The original image should be barely recognizable when you are done. Feel free to use heads from one figure and bodies from others. Go crazy! The figures can be people, animals, creatures, or any other "focal point" imagery that takes the viewers attention.
Text:
- There must be text that creates a frame for the figure, or creates a cohesive feeling and framing to the poster as a whole (see the text in the examples.) You need to play with typing on a line (pen tool) or shape to create interesting shapes with the text, and edit the tracking, spacing, and other character effects to make the poster exciting. Or you may make your own text entirely with selection tools. -The text must be original - Do not crop it from another source.
- The text must give a date and time for the concert as well as a list of who will be playing and where the show will be.
-The text MUST use a clipping mask of some kind somewhere.
Grading: 12 Point Rubric.
Imagery: 4 Points
- There must be at least one figure modified heavily as described above
-The poster must be colored in a way that grabs attention and works with the text to create visual interest.
- Text and imagery should intermingle - not simply sit next to each other.
Text: 4 Points
- The text must represent the same energy that the poster conveys
-The text must have a clipping mask somewhere within it.
- The text must frame the poster in a way that creates visual interest. (if all of your text is just lines of boring text with no interesting shapes, editing, or color, you will not receive a good score.)
-The text must have a location, artist(s) name(s), date and time of the show.
Professionalism: 4 Points
-Any images used to edit must be placed in another photopea project and submitted as a jpeg
- ALL class time is used and not wasted. Wasted time will cost you points.
- The assignments must be the right size, DPI, and show originality and creativity.
- The Layers must be named and organized neatly.
PHONE USE DURING FINAL WILL RESULT IN 0/12 SCORE.
WASTED CLASS TIME WILL COST POINTS. CONTINUED WASTE OF CLASS TIME WILL RESULT IN 0/12 SCORE.
USING UNEDITED IMAGES OF THE ARTIST DIRECTLY FROM THE INTERNET WILL COST POINTS.
