Graphic Design Semester 1 Final Project

Use photopea to Create a Snack Food Package Cover (One-Canvas Design)

Software: Photopea

Objective:

Students will design an original  snack food package that includes all required elements on one canvas, including A Product title, catchphrase, an Edited photo of yourself, and a Nutrition Facts label placed directly on the front of the design.

The project focuses on real-world packaging, photo editing, and visual marketing techniques.

Canvas Setup 

Students must create a new document in Photopea with:

• Size: 8.5 x 11 inches ✅
  
  

• Resolution: 300 DPI ✅
  
  

• Orientation: Vertical (Portrait)
  
  

All design elements must fit on this single page canvas.

Front Cover Design Requirements

Your snack package must include:

✅ Original Product name/title with at least 2 layer effects (stroke, shadow, glow, bevel, etc.)
✅ An original, edited photo of YOU (MUST be a photo of YOU along with any other photos)
✅ A catchy tagline/slogan
✅ An original (made from scratch) Nutrition Facts panel placed on the FRONT cover
✅ A consistent, professional color scheme
✅ Strong visual hierarchy

Nutrition Label Requirements (Placed on the Front)

Your front-cover Nutrition Facts panel must be made from scratch and include at least 5 categories such as:

• Serving Size

• Calories

• Total Fat

• Sodium

• Total Carbohydrates

• Protein

• Anything silly you want to include (magic, titanium, dragon scales, etc.)

Numbers and categories can be fictional — the focus is realism and clean design.

12-Point Grading Rubric

Imagery/Editing

Clean cutout and realistic blending, includes a photo of yourself, bright colors, and eye-catching imagery. Must be all original, cannot use an existing design. Layers are organized/labeled.

Text and Effects

Title, Catchphrase and nutrition label  are Creative and original. Title makes use of at least 2 layer effects and works with the rest of your imagery to catch the eye and promote visual marketing.

Background Nutrition Label

Must be made from scratch. Must look like a real nutrition label with at least 5 nutrition categories and include fun/funny information. The background of imagery should be cohesive with text, and should all work together to sell your product visually.

• MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE - any inappropriate designs will receive a 0/12

• PHONE USE DURING FINAL WILL RESULT IN 0/12 SCORE

• TO RECEIVE A 12/12 STUDENTS MUST USE ALL CLASS TIME GIVEN FOR FINAL. Wasted or misused time will result in lost points according to E-Grade standards.
