Numbering: The Chuukese language has a different numbering system depending on an object’s shape and size (i.e. long shapes, round shapes, meats, vegetables, etc.)  The Chuukese dictionary has two pages of numbering variants

Poetic: Chuukese is a very poetic language with many idioms. Fore example, the English phrase “You don’t love me anymore” may be interpreted in Chuukese to “You have flown away from me on swift wings”

Lack of Technology: The islands are very primitive and therefore the language may not have the vocabulary for legal, scientific or modern socio-economic terms.

Writing: Chuukese is an oral language, and does not have a codified spelling system.  It was not written down at all until recently.
