Burmese is spoken in Myanmar, formerly called Burma. It is an official language of the country, and the language of the Bamar people - the principal ethnic group in Myanmar. In 2007 Burmese was spoken as a first language by 33 million people, and as a second language by another 10 million other ethic groups and neighboring countries
