Leading Indicator 1.1: The faculty and staff perceive the school environment as safe and orderly.


Goal Statement #1: Tardy data is reviewed monthly and appropriate interventions are assigned. There is an attendance team made up of teachers and administrators that review the data and policy every semester.

TAKE BACK YOUR HALLWAYS-

Staff has challenged students to take back their hallways and the behavior in them. Many students have taken to this initiative. The administration has also conducted hall sweeps to help reinforce these expectations. Schoolwide expectations are posted in all the hallways and main areas of the building.

Goal Statement #2: Emergency management procedures are regularly reviewed and practiced.

Emergency Management Plan- Revised quarterly and submitted for approval to Central Office every August. Emergency procedures are continually updated and aligned with the safest and best practices.

Belvidere High School exceeds the state requirements for practicing emergency procedures. BHS works with local law enforcement in conducting the following drills annually:

  • Three Fire Drills

    • New 2020: PA announcement to hold in place until told to evacuate building.

  • Hard Lock-down/Active Shooter Drill

  • Shelter-In Place/Tornado Drills

  • Bus Evacuation

  • Evacuation to Dismissal Drill

Goal Statement #3 Directions for evacuation and fire drill are posted in every classroom and reviewed by teachers.

Goal Statement #4 Belvidere High School has clear and specific rules and procedures in place.

Student Handbook

  • Parent Input- Collected via Parent Surveys in Main Office and Parent-Teacher Conferences.

  • Student Input- Meet with Student Steering Committee annually to review/edit the handbook.

  • Staff Input- Collected annually.

Goal Statement #5 Belvidere High School monitors student behavior online to assure they are being safe and using, their 1-1 technology appropriately.

  • GoGuardian is utilized to monitor all students' behavior on their school issued chromebooks. Teachers may redirect the students and restrict access.

  • Smart alerts are created by GoGuardian and sent to administration if students are looking at sexually inappropriate content.

  • Beacon App- Through GoGuardian, it monitors for active suicidal planning. Alerts are sent to administration and student services.

  • Continued monitoring through Pandemic covid-19 timeframe.
