Year 6 Weekly Overview
Year 6 Weekly Overview
Written by Mr Urry, Year 6 Lead
We had planned to take a panoramic-style photo, but due to the current situation, with some students not in school, we have decided to return to the grid format used in previous years.
This means we can use the student photos taken in September to create the grid. However, new students and those who were absent will still need to have their photos taken so they can be included. A catch-up photo session has therefore been scheduled for April 22nd.
Please see this letter for all information and registration links.
On Tuesday 14 April 2026, DESS will be taking part in the International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition (IKMC), a worldwide mathematics competition.
The IKMC is a multiple-choice assessment for pupils in Years 1 to 8 and is designed to promote mathematical thinking and problem-solving in an engaging way.
If you would like your child to participate, please complete the Google Form attached to Mr Bray’s Parental Correspondence letter link above.
Please note that a fee of 100 QAR (cash only) must be paid to the Finance Office to confirm your child’s entry.
Parents and pupils will be informed of the specific time and session in which their child will participate closer to the event date.
Please be advised that Year 6 students are receiving House Points (rewards) and C2 consequences. I encourage you to view these on the Parent Portal - see images as a guide.
Ministry of Education and Higher Education: My Values Shape my Identity Activity
Year 6 students enjoyed the below activity. Sensitively, we welcome you to discuss this activity at home.
DESS guidelines request that parents and children do not bring in high sugar treats, such as cakes and doughnuts. Instead, birthday gift ideas can include pens, bookmarks, a class book, or a healthier food option such as a sandwich platter. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you are unsure.
In addition to swimming, children will begin outdoor play. Please ensure children have hats and their water bottles.
