Year 5 Weekly Overview
Year 5 Weekly Overview
Dear Parents
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable winter holiday, filled with cherished moments with family and friends. As we embark on the new term, I am delighted to welcome you and your children back to school.
This term presents an opportunity to build upon the achievements from term 1 but also focus on some of the gaps that may have presented themselves. Focusing on some of the targets discussed at parent consultation will be a priority.
Looking ahead, this term promises to be vibrant and enriching. We have several exciting events and initiatives planned, which will provide opportunities for our students to shine and for our community to come together.
This week got off to a great start with a class trip to the singing sand dunes. The children were absolutely fantastic as they raised awareness and played their part in keeping Qatar clean. Mr. Jose, the volunteer from DEAP Qatar was incredibly impressed with how consciences the children were in helping clean up the area. Thank you to the year 5 team for making this such a great memory and learning experience.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. I look forward to seeing around the school.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards,
Mr Mernagh
Head of Middle School
On Wednesday 8th January, Year 5 enjoyed a trip to the Singing Sand Dunes where we teamed up with DeapQatar to do a litter pick. The children did a fantastic job and were exceptionally behave from start to finish. This was a fantastic learning opportunity and a great introduction into our topic 'Are we damaging our planet?'
As a result of their hard work and excellent behaviour, we had time for some sliding down the dunes and hearing the renowned humming! You will find many photos in the usual Google Drives.

In Year 5, children come into class by themselves in the morning. The class teachers and TA’s will be in the classroom ready to greet the children.
At the end of the day, 5A and 5B teachers will bring the children onto the shaded playground area at 2pm (1pm Thursdays) to meet you. 5C and 5D will assemble at the side of block E, outside the 5C classroom. The Year 5 team will be around to point you in the right direction.
Please remember that parents are not to enter classrooms. The school day begins at 7:30am and pick-up is from the shaded playground at 2:00pm. REMINDER: We finish at 1:00pm on a Thursday
Please bring a full water bottle to school each day.
Please bring a hat everyday.
