What is Social Justice Team?
Social Justice Team is a group of student leaders working together to raise social awareness and work towards social and racial justice within the DeForest Area school district and community. The Social Justice Team has spearheaded initiatives like the Social Justice Youth Summit and led professional development sessions for staff on topics such as microaggressions. They have also been recognized for their social justice and equity work by organizations like the Urban League of Greater Madison.

Social Justice Team meets bi-weekly during Flex time.
How does Social Justice Team benefit students?
The Social Justice Team's overall goal is to promote a more inclusive and equitable environment within the school district and community. Students learn about empathy, promoting equity, and developing crucial skills like critical thinking and leadership. By engaging in social justice work, students can better understand societal issues, learn to advocate for change, and build stronger communities.
