What is NHS?
NHS is a prestigious organization founded in 1921 that recognizes students who excel in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. To be considered for membership, students must be a junior and meet the following requirements:
Scholarship: Maintain a minimum 3.5* Cumulative GPA to demonstrate academic excellence.
Leadership: Show strong leadership skills through school activities, clubs, athletics, or community organizations.
Community Service: Be actively involved in volunteer work that benefits your school or local community.
Character: Exhibit integrity, responsibility, and respect in both academic and personal settings.
Meeting these requirements is just the first step! If eligible, juniors will be invited to apply early fall and provide evidence of their leadership, service, and character.
Students with a 3.5* Cumulative GPA their junior year will receive an invitation in late September to apply for membership in NHS. The Faculty Council will review applications based on the 4 pillars of NHS, Scholarship, Leadership, Community Service, and Character
*Starting with the class of 2028, students must maintain a 3.6 Cumulative GPA.
When does NHS meet?
NHS has monthly meetings. Students are required to complete 10 hours of community service each semester, including required participation in Fall Festival and Link-Ages activities.
How does NHS benefit students?
Students in NHS are recognized for high achieving academic and leadership. NHS provides opportunities for developing leadership skills and improving their communities through service.
