What is Art Club?
Art Club was created to provide both art and non-art students the opportunity to work and collaborate with like-minded creative students. Art Club members will pursue personal creative interests and compete in various juried art competitions throughout the school year.
When does Art Club meet?
Art Club members will meet at least once per week to work on personal and/or community art projects for self, competitions, or community non-profit organizations. Students will compete in VAC (Visual Arts Classic), Scholastic Art, The Juried Badger Conference Art Exhibit, and other national art competitions. In addition, they will get the opportunity to attend workshops and presentations by college representatives.
How does Art Club benefit students?
Art Club is a platform for art students to apply the knowledge and skills they are learning in art classes to compete in friendly juried art competitions. Students will learn how to set goals, conduct research, and execute artistic challenges. Students will also learn about compassion, empathy, self-discipline, teamwork, resilience, mental toughness, and how to handle difficulties and failures in real situations. Students will participate in competitions at various UW campuses and get to learn from art professionals. Students will gain valuable insight into themselves as future designers and thinkers. Participation will help students to prepare for college and the creative industry after graduation.
