What is Mock Trail?
Mock Trial provides students an opportunity to learn about the legal process through competitive debate/role playing. Students analyze and prepare a case with some presenting testimony as a witness and others arguing the case as an attorney. Students receive coaching and input from attorneys and judges.
When does Mock Trail meet?
Mock Trail practices weekly in October through early February, with several practice matches in December and January. The Mock Trail team participates in practice meets with other area teams in preparation for regional competition in February.Â
How does Mock Trial benefit students?
Mock Trial helps students develop many skills through their involvement with: critical thinking, communication, self-advocacy, teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation. Students gain an understanding and appreciation for the law, court procedures, and the American judicial system, as well as awareness of current legal issues.
