Flipgrid
What is Flipgrid? Once you set up your free educator account at Flipgrid.com, you’ll first create a Topic for your class. A Topic is a discussion prompt for your students! Your students respond to your Topic with a short video, using our fun, social media style camera. Students can watch and comment on videos from peers, with you as the educator in complete control.
What kind of video projects can be created using a Flipgrid?
• Daily learning reflections • Reading and book talks • STEM thinking • Project demonstrations • Fluency and phonics High School • Daily video journal • Project presentations • Language learning • Peer review • Persuasive debate • Digital office hours • Socratic discussions • Social presence • Research presentations • Project-based learning • Reading together • Messages of positivity • At-home experiments • Shared physical exercise
Grid Set-up recommended requirements:
Disable downloads
Moderate videos
Choose the set-up in domain option (use student@dedham.k12.ma.us for login)
Set expectations for use of stickers, etc.
Teachers must understand that:
"How Flipgrid works, which the agreement reflects, is that all of the data is controlled through the teacher’s account. As a result, to the extent you wanted to request deletion of data, download the data, or basically do anything, you would have to go through the teacher’s account."
"For one example, if a parent asked you to delete a Flipgrid video created by a student, rather than contact Flipgrid you would need to delete that video through the Flipgrid Educator (Teacher) Account." (SDPC attorney).
Please see the SDPC website regarding the signed contract.
Please note: Under Access Control, you have to include student.dedham.k12.ma.us for students to access with their Gsuite login crediatials.
