January 5th - March 21st
Demonstrate their knowledge of earth's cycles. What are the differences in climates? How are seasons similar/different?
Students will present their acquired knowledge about earth's cycles to the class through a chosen form of expression.
Choose: Current season of the year.
Act: Go on a nature walk to discuss the weather patterns and environmental attributes connected to the current season.
Reflect: How we need to change to adapt to different seasons.
Voice: Questioning related to the unit will occur during lessons prior to releasing into centers, and reinforced with activities provided.
Choice: Students will be able to have a personal stake in their learning via centers.
Ownership: Their engagement with the activities supplied will coincide with our current unit.
Small group implementation will reinforce concepts as well.
Causation: Why is it like this? The understanding that things do not just happen, that there are causal relationships at work, and that actions have consequences.
Change: How is it changing? The understanding that change is the process of movement from one state to another. It is universal and inevitable.
Connection: How is it connected to other things? The understanding that we live in a world of interacting systems in which the actions of any individual element affect others.
Reading: Book: Good Night Moon
Math: Patterns. Students will be able to practice different patterns using elements of nature or weather. ex. day-night-day-night or rain-snow-rain-snow
Art: day/night drawing- contrasting the two and how it changes
Music: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
