Sixth grade science finished October with a bang, or actually the “roar” of a rocket engine! We completed the inquiry process by answering the questions; Does the length of the rocket barrel affect the distance a rocket will fly? We have moved on to our Earth’s Motions and Seasons goal. Students will use models to explain how the Earth moves and how Seasons happen on Earth.
Eighth grade science began the quarter with observing the phenomenon of a Levitating Orb and developing questions that will drive our learning. We constructed an initial model of what we think is happening, and are in the process of exploring our questions. We thought gravity had something to do with it, so we have been learning about gravity at large and small scales. Next, we are going to address some of our other questions related to magnetism and how, or if, it affects our Levitating Orb system.
