7th Grade ELA - Our focus on determining themes and analyzing development of those themes continues as we read and summarize the 1994 Newbery Award winning novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. We will be analyzing how particular elements of the story interact, how the author develops the points of view of the main character in a text, and drawing evidence to support analysis of the text. We will also be practicing identifying and writing simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences in our writing.
