Sebastian Toro was a member of the CHS music department for two years after joining in his junior year. In his time here he was active in countless groups where he conquered almost the entire range of brass instruments. Despite his dabbling in various instruments, Sebastian primarily played Baritone and Trombone in his many ensembles. He played in the CHS Marching Band, the Concert Band, Jazz Band, and the Orchestra. Sebastian also took part in Pit Orchestra, which provided soundtrack to “42nd Street” in 2017 and “Peter Pan” in 2016, as well as the Brass Quintet which performed occasionally at Cresskill senior homes and community centers to celebrate the holiday with community service.
Since graduating from Cresskill in 2017, Sebastian attends the University of Southern California where he studies Accounting alongside his continued dedication to the arts. He shows his spirit by playing bass trombone with the Trojan Marching Band at his school’s many football and basketball games. He also plays with a smaller ten-piece band for special events in the area including weddings, birthdays, and other community events. In the USC Concert Band, Sebastian is the Assistant Principal Trombone, and was recently asked to be a member of the selective band for the TV revival of “Veronica Mars”.
Looking back from his accomplishments so far in college, Sebastian recalls his favorite memories from CHS as the great fun he had performing with the Pit Band for “42nd Street” as well as playing at the Tree Lighting Ceremony and other holiday events in the community in the Brass Quintet.
