While being a student at CHS, Morgan was very active within the music department. She was a part of a variety of different musical groups from instrumental to vocal. Morgan was a part of the concert choir, as well as a member of the concert and marching bands where she played flute for four years. Morgan was a seven year contributor to the principal players where she was a chorus member for four years from sixth to ninth grade and a member of the pit band for three from tenth to twelfth grade. She was accepted to play with the region band for two years and also played with the Bergen County Band for one year. Additionally, Morgan was a part of a student-led chamber music trio for two years.
Morgan also was involved within the student leadership opportunities provided by the groups she was a part of. She was a section leader for the marching band during her junior and senior years. Due to this leadership and involvement Morgan also was inducted into the Tri M Music Honor Society.
Furthering her passions within the arts, Morgan is studying music with a double major in english in the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University (anticipated class of 2020). Due to her major Morgan is able to keep music within her life by being part of Rutgers concert bands, orchestras and chamber ensembles. She also has been active outside of school by performing anywhere from churches to rock bands. Morgan has also been a counselor at the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina for two years.
Morgan’s fondest memories of her time at CHS involve the Marching Band which she recalls to be a highlight of her high school experience. Within this group she made many friends and enjoyed the trips taken to Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Washington D.C. where she and the band performed in the National Memorial Day Parade.
