While she was a student at Cresskill, Josette took part in almost every performance group available in the music department. As both a dedicated vocalist and instrumentalist, Josette was active in both the Concert Band and Marching Band on Alto Saxophone (2 years) and Concert Choir as a soprano (4 years) during high school. And outside of her regular classes, she also successfully auditioned for SoundXplosion, an A Capella group which she was a part of for four years, and the High School Jazz Band as a vocalist. She also sang for the Rock Band and played guitar for the Pit Band (Senior year) alongside her dedication to the Principal Players as an actress in Cresskill Musicals for 3 years during her high school career.
Outside of school, Josette was very active in pursuing and practicing music. All throughout high school, she embraced her passion for songwriting and singing in her countless self-written compositions and in 2016, Josette even appeared on singing competition show, “The Voice”, where she was chosen for Miley Cyrus’s team of singers.
Since graduating, Josette has gone on to study Nursing at Seton Hall University and continues to write and perform her own songs around the Tri-State Area as a solo acoustic artist.
As a dedicated, music-oriented student, Josette was left with too many favorite memories of her time at CHS to choose from. Her participation in every corner of the department played a significant role in her growth both as a student and a person. She is most thankful for the Music Department because of its role as a safe place for all 7 years she was involved during Middle and High School. Josette says that even just the classrooms - the choir room, band room, and auditorium - empowered her and gave her the confidence in herself that she needed to succeed as well as the confidence that if she didn’t succeed, she would always have endless support from her peers and teachers to keep trying and never give up
