(Gwendolyn, The Importance of Being Ernest 2015)
While at Cresskill High School, Alyssa Hess was involved in groups within the music department that were more vocally oriented. She was a member of the music department’s concert choir for one year. Alyssa also participated within the principal players for five years, performing on stage in dramas and musicals.
After high school Alyssa went to The College of New Jersey (class of 2016) where she studied graphic design, and now works as a graphic designer. However, theatre stuck with Alyssa and she continued to pursue it as a hobby while at school. She was involved with TCNJ’s All College Theatre, the non-musical theatre group. Alyssa was a part of many productions, and had played everything from ensemble to lead roles. In her senior year She even won a best actress award for her portrayal of the role of Gwendolyn in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Ernest.
Some of Alyssa’s favorite memories center around the stage productions that she was a part of. She remembers fondly the great time she had getting into costumes and makeup for shows, as well as singing musical numbers with friends backstage. Some other highlights include tap dancing ‘boot camp’ for the musical Anything Goes, and the funny moments when conversations would be heard over the audio system when mics where live and the cast members had forgotten.
