Begin the conversation with your parents/guardians about what you want to do after high school.
Are you planning on attending a four year college/university?
Are you planning on attending a community college first then transferring to a four year college/university?
Are you planning on getting an associates degree at a community college?
Are you planning on going into the military?
Are you planning on going to straight into the workforce?
Discover your passions and interests.
Do some career and personality surveys.
Attend local or regional college fairs.
Talk to your school counselor during registration to make sure that the classes you are taking are realistic for you ability and aligned with your post-secondary plans.
Make sure you are doing the best in all of your classes...Your transcript begins day one of your high school career.
Get involved with extracurricular activities. Begin your resume and keep an ongoing list throughout high school. It can be hard to remember when you are a senior what you did as a freshman!
