Senior Year Planning
Fall (1st Semester)
Sign up for your senior meeting with your designated school counselor in September
Research college applications, financial aid and scholarship information
Request Transcripts when available
Order your cap and gown.
Sign up for the SAT and/or ACT and send your scores to colleges/universities you are applying to.
Line up counselor/teacher recommendations-give the counselor or teacher at least 10 days or more to write your recommendation. You need to complete a Student Brag Sheet in order to request a recommendation. (Note that not all schools require a letter of recommendation).
Check the scholarship page in Naviance about scholarships.
Check Naviance for information regarding campus visits from admissions counselors.
If you plan to be a college athlete, register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
If interested in the military, talk with recruiters.
Participate in College Application Day, sponsored by CFNC.
Apply for FAFSA in December and attend Financial Aid Night.
If you are planning on going into the military, you will need to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test.
Spring (2nd Semester)
Continue to complete college applications. Most regular admission deadlines are in January.
Request Mid-year Transcripts to send to schools requiring mid-year reports.
Continue to apply for scholarships.
Decide on the one college that you will attend. BE PROUD- you’ve completed a difficult task. Send in your acceptance letter and enclose your deposit.
Write "thank you" notes to persons who wrote letters of recommendation for you.
Finish your senior year strong. We send a final transcripts to the college/university you plan to attend. DO NOT GET SENIORITIS!
