Click on this link to view a video and read an article about how lighting can be used to create mood. Take notes on the following:
What moods do high contrast shadows create?
What moods do softer, lower contrast shadows create?
What moods do cool colors create?
What moods do warm colors create?
How can changing the direction of light impact the mood? What moods are associated with:
Top lighting?
Side lighting?
Back lighting?
Up lighting (lighting from underneath)?
Now, find 5 images online that you think make good use of lighting to convey mood. Label each image with one word that you believe summarizes the mood of the image (use a different word for each image)
You will need to select FOUR moods and create FOUR different photographs. Each photo representing one of the 4 moods you selected. You may take pictures outside or in the studio.
EDIT your four pictures in Lightroom to enhance the mood. Post your edited and unedited photos next to each other.
WRITE about how you used lighting and/or color to convey that mood. Talk about why you chose the direction, intensity, and color of the light
