You will be taking pictures using a long exposure time in order to capture light trails. Follow these directions to set up your camera and begin taking pictures:
For this type of photography, you MUST use a tripod!!
Set your shutter speed to about 10 seconds, your aperture to f/18 or higher, and your ISO to 100
Manually focus onto your subject by changing the setting on the side of your lens from AF to MF, then rotate the front of your lens until it focuses on your subject
In your camera’s live view, scroll your focus box to where you want it using the buttons that surround the “set” button
Make sure all the lights are off before you start, then click the shutter button
Note - it might help to use the 2 second delay feature
Run around with your light source to create the streaks you want or illuminate the subject how you desire. Make sure you stay in constant motion!
You can draw shapes (school appropriate of course), make it look like someone has super powers, create lightning, etc.
Upload your top 3 images to your website in a subpage under Units called "Painting with Light."
Once you have uploaded your images to your website, choose your favorite image and post it on this google slides link under your name.
Create a new subpage under your units page. Title it "Painting with Light."
Plug in your camera's SD card into to your computer and upload the images you want to post.
In the insert tab, click on "images," then select the images you want to upload.
Now, navigate back to your units page.
Under you assignments section in unit one, create a new bullet point and title it "Painting with Light."

Click into preview mode to check that it worked. You can enter preview mode by clicking the computer icon in the top right corner. Click on the link you just made and make sure it takes you to the Painting with Light page you just created.
