Start by selecting one of the following word prompts:
Bravery
Courage
Freedom
Loyalty
Independence
Valor
Honor
Victory
Or another word that represents American ideals or positive words about Veterans
Once you have chosen a word you like, find a quote online that has to do with that word. If you have found a quote you like, get it ok'd with Ms. Jones before proceeding!
You will be creating a poster based around the quote you have chosen. In this poster you will have an image you have taken in the background and the quote you chose displayed in front.
You will begin by brainstorming ideas for photos you think would pair well with your quote.
Think about how you could symbolize the quote you chose. What image would best reinforce the idea you are trying to portray?
Remember the compositional elements and principles we have discussed in class. How could you best compose the image to highlight/complement the text? Remember to incorporate negative space in your image so you have a place to put your text!
After you have a few ideas for pictures you could take, it's time to go out and actually take your pictures!
Criteria for pictures:
Must incorporate at least TWO elements and/or principles of composition (leading lines, framing, focal point etc.)
Must take at least 3 pictures
Must edit all 3 photos, including adding the quote. You can use the same quote or different quotes for each.
We will choose from your top 3 photos which one we would like to get printed for the Veteran's day celebration

Erasing an object using photoshop
If you find an object in your image that is distracting, you can erase it using this technique (5 mins)
This is great for if you want to flex on literally everyone in the class, and it's less than 3 minutes
Create a subpage in your Unit 2 module under projects called "Veteran's Day Project"
On your website page, post your 3 images (both edited and unedited versions)
Next to each image, write which 2 elements or principles of composition you used and how they are shown in your image. you must also write how your picture is meant to embody or complement your chosen quote.
