From the principal's desk
In 2022/23, our state has asked that North Carolina teachers complete a literacy training called LETRS. The training is excellent and will help our teachers improve their knowledge of children’s language/literacy development as they work to support the development of their students’ literacy skills. We are working hard to support our teachers to get the training done. As such, we are asking for your help in our cafeteria during lunch to allow teachers to work in their classrooms while students eat lunch. If you are able, please consider signing up to volunteer. You may sign up on our PTA’s website which may be found here.
If you have a child participating in our YMCA afterschool program and you wish to pick them up prior to the end of our dismissal time (typically around 3:20 p.m.), please follow the carpool line and park in our staff parking lot to get your child. During dismissal time, we are not able to have parents pull into the bus parking lot to pick up their child at YMCA as this poses a safety issue for our bus riders.

It’s time for Student Council Elections!!
Is your 3rd, 4th, or 5th Grade Gator interested in being a school leader? Then, the student council is a perfect fit!
The CGE student council is a leadership group which gives our students a chance to take on fun challenges, serve their school, and learn leadership skills. Last year's council were responsible for organizing and implementing our weekly clean-up crew which kept our campus clean. They were also responsible for planning and running the Gator Bash to celebrate the hard work our 3-5 students did on their E.O.G.s. Who knows what amazing projects this year's council can help us with?!
Meetings will be held Afterschool twice a month after Winter break and there will be a fun Leadership retreat in December for elected council members!
