In the Library

Nominate Now for the Anna Dewdney Read Together Award

Penguin Young Readers, the Children's Book Council, and Every Child a Reader continue their partnership for the 7th Annual Anna Dewdney Read Together Award in honor of the late Anna Dewdney (1965-2016), author and illustrator of the beloved Llama Llama series.

The Anna Dewdney Read Together Award is given annually to a picture book that is both a superb read-aloud and also sparks compassion, empathy, and connection. The award commemorates the life and work of author/illustrator Anna Dewdney and celebrates her commitment to reading with young children and putting books into as many little hands as possible.

Nominate Your Favorite Read-Aloud Books Today!

All librarians, teachers, booksellers, parents/caregivers, and children's book bloggers are encouraged to nominate up to five beloved read-together picture book favorites, published in the last five years (2017-2022) in the United States. Nominators must be 18 years of age or older.

The deadline to submit a title for consideration is February 14, 2023.

Book Drive!

We are starting our 2nd annual book drive for CGE! Books will be used primarily in the library. Some will be:

  1. Placed our collection.

  2. Taken by other students.

  3. Used in various parts of the building to help build a reading culture.

The Book Drive Collection box will be in the lobby and students are welcome to bring books straight to the library.

Thanks so much for supporting reading at CGE!

Qtr 2 Reading Challenge

Info about the Qtr 3 challenge will be in next week's Gator Bites!

SORA -- Online Books

Students have access to our CCS online library called Sora. Sora is a student-friendly reading app for e-books and audiobooks. Students have anytime-anywhere access to digital books through their Chromebooks or their mobile devices/tablets. In their account, students can take notes and highlight books, track their reading statistics, and more! CCS has launched its e-book collection, and students and teachers across the district have access through the Sora app!
