CGE Announces Its First Read-a-thon!
Read-a-thons help your reader get excited about reading and gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-a-thon starts Thursday February 23, 2023.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/BGrQLd/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. Funds raised will go to support the CGE Library and Staff Morale activities.
We are looking forward to this fun reading event!
Bitsy Griffin, School Librarian
Gator Chase 2023
Gator Chase 2023 registration is *OPEN* and additional details can be found on the race website (link & QR code below)!
100% of the registration proceeds will be used for grounds improvements to playgrounds and sports fields!
Donating a food item for the CGE Staff Meeting is a great way to support our amazing educators. Visit the PTA website at https://chathamgrovepta.com/ and sign up to bring an item or two to make the Super Bowl themed nacho bar a success. The PTA will make drop off easy by providing a curbside option. Our CGE Staff is Nacho Average Staff. Let's treat them to a great after school snack!
Around the School
Camp Invention
Spark your child’s curiosity and creativity with our all-new Camp Invention® program, Wonder! Camp Invention will return to Chatham Grove this summer from July 10th to July 13th, 8am-4pm. Due to EOG remediation, retakes and the summer school schedule, the dates for camp have changed from the original week in June. If you have signed up and cannot make the new dates, please contact Camp Invention at 800-968-4332. We hope to have a great turnout this summer for a fun-filled week!
Campers in grades K-6 will collaborate with friends to take on fun, hands-on STEM challenges. They’ll build their own mini skate park, become an imaginative event planner, launch their own pop-up business and transform a robot into a stuffie! Each experience is designed to spark curiosity, build persistence and create an unforgettable summer. Visit invent.org/mylocalcamp to secure your spot! Use promo code SUM25 by 3/30 to save $25. Returning campers use promo code SUM35 by 2/15 to save $35. We can’t wait to create an adventure full of inspiration, innovation and unforgettable discoveries! If you have any questions regarding camp, please contact our camp director, Emily Richardson, at erichardson@chatham.k12.nc.us.

Placed our collection.
Taken by other students to add to their personal libraries.
Used in various parts of the building to help build a reading culture.
The Book Drive Collection box will be in the lobby and students are welcome to bring books straight to the library.
Thanks so much for supporting reading at CGE!
SORA -- Online Books
Students have access to our CCS online library called Sora. Sora is a student-friendly reading app for e-books and audiobooks. Students have anytime-anywhere access to digital books through their Chromebooks or their mobile devices/tablets. In their account, students can take notes and highlight books, track their reading statistics, and more! Students can read on any device, but they will need their user names and logins to do this.
