Photography is one of my favorite mediums to express myself and explore visual form. As a photographer, I have more of an organic style. I really love nature and showing the beauty of it through landscapes and macro photography. But I also love making more magical photographs and have developed many skills through editing and photo manipulation using Adobe Photoshop.
One of my greatest strengths as a photographer is coming up with creative ideas and finding beauty in things that the casual viewer might not. Between my skillsets towards software and hardware, I tend to focus on them equally but want to learn to edit my photos more thoroughly with new photo manipulation methods.
In the future, I hope to expand my knowledge with my photography and use that knowledge to make my photography better. Also, I hope to incorporate new elements into my portraiture; I want to use costumes and makeup more than I have been able to to create new looks of visualizing people. I also want to explore methods of adding graphics into my photography edits by using sketching software or hand-drawn effects that accentuate the realities I capture. Using the knowledge I have gained and the passion I hope to foster, I aspire to take photography beyond a hobby by selling my photography or having a home studio as a photography business where I can profit from these skills.
For this project, we re-created famous Hollywood movie posters all on our own from scratch using photography assets. I posed and created the look of Rings, the sequel to the horror film The Ring with original photography in the studio and lots of photo manipulation tricks!
This was a studio series I shot with Teka of Natasha and Keagan who were shadowing the program to join next year. In this shoot, we used high-angled LED panels and gels to create dramatic angled lights.
For this project, we learned how to create more vintage film-like photography looks in Lightroom using editing techniques. This was my favorite vintage edit featuring Teka!
For this project, we worked to recreate the lighting and poses of classic painting subjects to make our own painting recreations. I worked with Paige to recreate the American Gothic painting, and the results are hilarious!
For this project, we used Photoshop and photography techniques to create an impossible "levitation" effect as if we were floating in space!
For this project, we used Photoshop to layer in many elements together to create a surrealist scene. I used a few assets from fantasy films with a photo from our studio to create this.
To get to know adjustment layers in Photoshop, we shot some photos where we could selectively edit parts of our photography in interesting ways!
For this project we used lighting on the same gray backdrop and change its color to white, black, and to have a colorful background of our choice using gels.
These are some favorite examples of my photography directed towards people subjects! Some are formal portraits and others are captured on location.
This project asked us to shoot a series of photos at home to respond to the "turbulent times" of the Coronavirus shutdowns. I shot my series about the idea of "makeshift" prom in the shutdown.
For this project we worked with a team in a pitch black room to shoot long exposures, allowing us to paint into the frame with light! We used absolutely no Photoshop editing to make these.
This project we practiced making masks with Photoshop. Here we got to try out clipping masks by making a design where images shined through text.
For this we used Photoshop to merge portraits onto photography as double exposures, and using masking and layering I was able to create a beautiful image.
For this project, we learned the basics of masking and layering in photoshop by making a collage of dozens of images stitched together with a theme.
For this project we had to repair and manipulate old pictures to look modern and new. This was our first time trying out some of the healing brushes and color layering in Photoshop.
This project was so much fun! I worked with my team and created the effect of having copies of myself interacting. We did this by taking multiple pictures and making sure the camera doesn't move at all, we clipped masks of ourselves and photo layering techniques.
For this project we scanned original abstract watercolors to create a hybrid or photography and hand-drawn art.
For this project we used Photoshop layer techniques to turn a photo into a hand-drawn effect. The rest was a process of masking and setting up the scene to show it in a realistic way!
For this project, we created an illusion to show our faces through an outline mask of our sideways profile, creating a really cool effect!
For this project, we created an effect where a frame was incorporated into our photography and the photo popped out, showing parts of our image that could emerge out of the backdrop as Teka's hand does here!
This was our first project of the year! We got to know the basics of photography and shooting with DSLRs with this project where we captured three macro shots, two portraits, and one landscape around campus. These are my favorites from the shoot! I hope you enjoy!
These are some photos I shot for a project that tasked us to capture macro and natural textures by framing our lighting and creating abstract patterns.
Although I think I could redo this and make it much better, this draft is worth sharing. This project tasked us to create pixel dispersion effects using multiple layers manipulated in Photoshop with liquify effects and creative brush shapes.
These are some photos I just took for fun!
