Class 3 (Genially)
CID, Jimena // MARCOVECCHIO, Sofia // SOMOGYI, Ariadna
CID, Jimena // MARCOVECCHIO, Sofia // SOMOGYI, Ariadna
This class will be conducted using the "WWW" format: Warmer, Web and What 's next, suggested by Dudeney and Hockly (2007).
The class will start by exchanging greetings with the students and then the teacher will proceed to call roll.
The teacher will ask the students "how are you today?" so that they can continue practicing vocabulary and, in addition, they are asked if they have any questions about something they did not fully understand from the previous class.
After replying to the students' questions, if any, the teacher will proceed with the presentation of the topic of the class: THE WEEKEND. In this class the students will see related vocabulary, for example:
The names of the days of the weekend,
What are the activities they usually do during the weekend?
What do they like to do the most during the weekend?
The teacher will ask the students to prepare their notebooks to listen to the following song on YouTube: On The Weekend (weekend recount song) - YouTube
After listening to the song, and in order to keep the students’ participation flowing, the teacher will ask the students "What did you do last weekend?"
So that every student gets to make their own production, the teacher will ask them to log in Genially, using their predetermined username and password (which has been previously created, and set up, with parental/guardian consent), and create a presentation about their weekend. They should include -at least- two activities they do during the weekend and one activity or hobby they would like to start.
Students will share their creation with their partner and they should ask each other related questions or exchange comments on each other's activities.
Students are asked to put together a new presentation, based on the activities they are going to do next weekend, but this time they should include real pictures of the activities they did, people they saw or visited. The presentation will be shared with all their classmates (with the use of the projector or digital screen) and the student should present it orally.
The NAPs offer a variety of situations to promote the development of oral comprehension and production skills and competencies. For example: participation in conversations about personal experiences and listening comprehensively to texts read or expressed orally by the teacher or other students. The activities proposed here make it possible to achieve these objectives, stimulating aspects that make possible both the intellectual and emotional development of the students (what activities they like, what activities they do not like, whether they feel identified with their classmates or not).

SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF USING THIS TOOL:
The greatest benefit, to support the inclusion of blind or visually impaired students, is the possibility of recording audio and inserting it into our presentation. For those students with impaired vision and who work with their own terminal, with a monitor adapted to their needs, we can say that the font is of an ideal size and with simple lines, suitable for them.
Unfortunately, there are not many comments from users available at Genially’s blog section. In general, the great visual impact generated by the presentations created with this tool is highlighted. Most of the available content is free, but there is some content that is only available for Premium plans.
According to some users’ opinions these are some of the advantages of using this tool,
- "This program is very easy to use" (Jouanel P., 2021).
- "It has a lot of animations" (Joseph Manuel, 2021).
- "Many opportunities to create a nice presentation and eye-catching" (Joseph Manuel, 2021).
- "It really is more its positive characteristics, because it allows you to create presentations and visual material of high quality and like a professional" (Daniela M., 2019)
And the disadvantages:
- "It has some problems with audio playback, depending on the quality of the recording." (Joseph Manuel, 2021)
- "It has great packages, but few templates for the free version." (Joseph Manuel, 2021)
