There is a range of information that might help us to understand what is going on in the market. We can use statistics and information like the ones listed below - but it is usually better to compare these over time.
Sales Data
- total sales (quantity)
- total sales (value)
- market share (% of total sales by each company)
- sales by area (region, country, continent)
- sales growth (increase or decrease)
Customer Data
- number of users/customers (current, potential)
- age, income, occupation, and other demographics
- geographical indicators (location, urban form)
Usage Data
- how the product is used (personal, professional, business, etc)
- when the product is used
- how long the product is used for
- why the product is used
- where the product is used

Using the data collated above (and any other data you have found), you are to create a visual "dashboard" to show the current status of the mobile phone market.
You will need to select the data that you think best shows information and insights about the market.
You will then need to prepare a short report explaining the data and visualisation choices you have made, and summarising what the data tells you about the market.

Steps to follow:
- Create your own copy of the Google Sheet (above)
- Review the data in the spreadsheet
- make a list of the things you think you might want to include in your dashboard
- be prepared to explain and justify your choices
- Decide how you want to display the data:
- types of charts, graphics
- types of comparisons
- combinations of data
- it would be a good idea to sketch out your ideas first, before making your final data choices
- Start creating your dashboard in the Google Sheet
- you will need at least six different visualisations
- you will need to cover all three categories of information in the data sheet above (sales, customer, usage)
- You will need to be able to explain and justify the choices you have made, and interpret the data that has been displayed in your dashboard.
