The Burlington boys soccer team has had a rough season, finishing with a record of 2 - 13 - 3. However, players are still optimistic about next season.
The boys soccer team definitely had an unsuccessful season when it came to winning, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying the season.
“We had our ups and downs,” said Edoardo Bassani, senior exchange student from Italy. “In the end we will miss sharing those moments on the field”.
While the seniors are sad to be leaving, they still appreciate their time playing soccer at Burlington High School.
“The vibes within the team were great”. Said Connor Herrera, senior captain. “A lot of us had been playing with each other for years, so we already had a strong team chemistry. Also, we had several players who were new to the team and I feel the guys did a great job of making them feel welcomed. This team had a lot of fun and gave everything they had on the field. The seniors are definitely going to miss competing with each other”.
Overall the seniors are happy about this season and returning players have high hopes for next season.
“The vibes within the team had its ups and downs”. Simone Pastore, junior at Burlington high school, stated over email. “Unfortunately at times our morale was down which caused lots of conflict and dispute within the team. This was the biggest problem on our team and it heavily contributed to our record this season”.
“I am very excited about next season.” Simone Pastore continued. “We have lots of young talent and I am keen to play with my friends. I think next season will be very fun and the morale/vibes will be much better”.
While this season's record wasn’t exactly what the team had in mind, returning players still have a positive attitude going into next year.
One big success from this season however was the team's victory over Waltham on senior night. A memory that everyone involved likely won’t forget.
“My favorite memory from this season with the team was our senior night win over Waltham”. Connor Herrera said. “The team and the senior class played with so much heart and we were able to pull out a great team victory. In addition, we had a great crowd that game and I will never forget the fans storming the field and celebrating with us after the game”.
