Burlington High School Collab, is back in business! Collab is a club that edits the school’s yearly literary magazine and opens contests a few times a year for writing prompts. The winners are determined by the editors and eventually ranked. The top three publishers are given prizes and their names said on the announcements.
“I joined Collab originally because I’ve always been interested in curating projects, especially literary issues of work for publication,” a senior editor, said. “Collab is special because we’re not boxed into a specific category of work. We accept poems, prose, essays even, and art of course. I think as a literary magazine, we celebrate all forms of art and I don’t think the opportunity to do that comes commonly.”
“The editing process is very much community driven. Every time we receive submissions, we as a group will look over, read, and leave comments on the piece,.” the editor continued., “Ms. Wolfenden prints out the anonymous submissions and once we read through them, we fill out a rating page attached to the back, “
Julia Souza, editor, said.
“ I joined Collab because I adore anything in literature, especially editing. I plan on involving myself in some sort of publishing career since I have been told I am exceptionally good at it and I feel I have grown somewhat accustomed to recognizing good writing style.” Julia explains, “ Collab is special because everyone in it makes it fun. Ms. Wolfenden is extremely kind and fun to talk to and welcomes anyone who might have an interest in Collab.”
Mrs. Wolfenden, the runner of the club, speaks on the club's purpose and its importance to BHS-
The top three will also have their submissions be published in the BHS literary magazine.
