Dear Mrs. Eshelmen,
My project demonstrates storytelling and reporting skills because I’m talking about a stolen VR headset. It requires good skills interviewing teachers because you have to be professional. You have to talk in a good tone of voice and ask good questions like, How did, tell me how, and any progress. My project makes me undertake journalism ethics because I asked good questions and got good interviews. I feel more comfortable doing interviews and asking questions because I’m getting better at it each time.
Oculus gone missing
This is extremely sad because teachers should have your trust but someone decided to steal the oculus. Mr. Wong and his students are asking for help, If you guys know who did this or know where the oculus is please tell Mr. Wong so we can get our oculus back and have fun with virtual reality again!
“It’s a very disappointing situation. I have a lot of stuff and I probably could have better security and I could lock things up,” Mr. Wong teacher at Burlington High School.
Mr. Wong is planning on getting cameras in every corner of the classroom to avoid something like this happening again. The problem is that we can’t have cameras in classrooms for privacy reasons so his best option is to lock everything up. Mr. Wongs room isn’t the biggest so it’s going to be hard trying to lock everything up. Students loved using the oculus, including me. It felt like you were in the game. It helped me learn about virtual and how things work in the VR headset.
“ I loved using the oculus, it helped me learn about virtual reality and it was really fun to use and play games on,” Jacob Frost senior at BHS.
Jacob was a student in Mr. Wong's class and loved using the oculus. He’s sad to hear about the news because he enjoyed using the oculus.
Mr. DeSousa is an It professional here at BHS and he has been involved too. They are trying their best to locate the oculus but as of now there is no luck.
“The police are involved but we can’t really say much. We've tried locating the oculus but once it leaves the school we lose all the connection,” Mr. DeSousa, IT department at BHS.
The Ip address, MAC address and Wi-Fi connection can all be used to locate the oculus but since it’s not connected to the BHS wifi nothing can be done. It’s a very sad situation and we hope we can locate the oculus soon because it’s an expensive device that should not be getting stolen. It’s used as a teaching tool and since we don’t have it, we won’t be able to learn about virtual reality the same way.
