Welcome to the Bolt Driver Newsletter! Every month we update you with the latest news, developments and changes to help you earn more, stay safe, and make the most out of your Bolt Driver App.
⌛ Driving time limits
On March 6th, we made an important update on how we count driving time. Previously, the driving time limit was based on your total online hours. Now, only the time spent actively driving (from trip acceptance to trip completion) counts towards the 12-hour limit. To help ensure your safety and wellbeing, you will still need to take a 6-hour break after reaching the limit before you can drive again.
This change was one of the most requested updates last year from drivers like yourself at Bolt: On the move. We appreciate your dedication and will continue improving the experience based on your valuable input.
*Please note that due to local regulations, this change does not apply to Cardiff.
🔐 Protect Your Bolt Driver Account!
Remember, Bolt will never ask for sensitive information like your codes, login details or personal contact information via chat, phone or any other method. Do not share your login details with anyone and please report any suspicious activity in the Bolt app immediately. You can learn more about information security anytime in the Driver Guidance Center in your app.
🪪 Wolverhampton Licence Renewals
We are aware of the backlog with Wolverhampton Council for license renewals.
The council is extending the validity of licenses online if you have submitted a correct and complete renewal, along with all the relevant documents.
If your account is blocked we are able to get you back online while the council clears their backlog.
To do so you must;
Check that Wolverhampton’s online licence checker shows your license is valid.
Upload proof of your renewal application in the Bolt Driver App
Once this is done our team will review and get you back online as soon as we can.
Acceptable proof of your renewal application can be a screenshot of the email you receive once your renewal application has been submitted.
An example of this is shown below

Portsmouth
Portsmouth City Council have had complaints of private hire drivers acting in an unprofessional manner at the pickup/drop off point at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
We would like to remind drivers to not stay in the pickup/drop off area beyond picking up or dropping a passenger off and to remain professional at all times, with members of the public and other licensed drivers.
⚖️ Compliance reminders for all drivers
Please ensure that you display your private hire badge at all times (in your vehicle or wearing it or both, depending on your licensing authority’s requirements).
Under the Health Act 2006, smoking and vaping in vehicles are prohibited at all times.
