Societies & Associations

There are various student groups in the department and university as a whole. Please add your own organizations with link/contact so that people who are interested can find you!

The Left Coast Political Ecology (LCPE) network began as a working group in 2015, when an interdisciplinary and multi-campus cohort of political ecologists gathered at the University of California, Berkeley for a two-day workshop. They recently published a manifesto, check it out

The SCB Berkeley Chapter is a professional organization with over 200 members composed of Bay Area grad students, undergraduates, and professionals. The Berkeley chapter was founded in 1997 and hosts events throughout the year, including the "Meeting Conservation" series, which brings in people working in various sectors related to conservation to discuss their careers.

SAFE is a nation-wide student organization under the umbrella of the Association for Fire Ecology. The primary objective of SAFE is: “to provide students from diverse backgrounds with an open forum on fire ecology through which research can be shared, networks formed and funding and information resources can be accessed.”

This group is pretty casual, made up of friendly people who just want to spread the good word about fire. There's always room for more ways to do this - so if you've got new ideas, come share them!
