Triple Rock - Brewpub and restaurant with tasty beers and bites. Rooftop patio and spacious seating in newish annex.
Spats - Definitely spin the wheel, but try to avoid the beergarita. Good for large gatherings. Good tots. All varieties of alcohol available.
Jupiter - Good beer and great back patio area. OK pizzas. Not inexpensive.
Raleigh's - Outdoor seating and bocce on back patio. Good happy hour. Taco tuesday. TVs for watching sportsball. Good for gatherings.
The Daily Pint Courtyard - No longer called the Daily Pint. Nice leafy courtyard with picnic tables surrounded by multiple bars and eateries. Cheap pitchers available.
Comal - Doesn't open until 5:30 p.m. Back patio great with ample seating, but limited ordering can happen from seats. Pricier. Margaritas and beers.
Revival Bar + Kitchen - Upscale spot in Downtown Berkeley. Beers and wines and cocktails. Decent happy hour. Pricey but delicious farm to table fare for sit-down meals.
Free House - Outdoor front and back patios. Wide selection of drinks and food. On the pricier side. Popular with law students.
Ippuku - A great but pricey place for an anniversary, birthday, Quals, etc; this Japanese Izakaya has delicious tapas and small bites paired with a wide selection of sake, shochu, soju, whiskey, beer, and mixed drinks. Reservations preferred but the front patio/bar counter is usually open and available.
Henry's - Upscale bar in hotel. Very popular on football Saturdays.
Cornerstone - Spacious bar with some back patio seating. Beers and wines available. Hosts frequent shows.
East Bay Spice Company- Delectably hip beers, hard alcohol and seductively spiced mixed drinks paired with Indian fusion fare. Good happy hour. A little small and usually crowded but the upstairs seating can be a nice space to hang.
Tap Haus - German-themed bar in undergrad land. Offers boots of beer. Great happy hour prices.
Screw & Toad - Actually called Tupper & Reed. Upscale-ish cocktail joint.
Nico's 1508 - Restaurant with great (though pricy) brunch. Bottomless mimosas available.
Tupper & Reed - Bar (no food served) with a quiet, low-key atmosphere and intricately crafted cocktails. If you like studying with some alcohol, this is a nice spot to get some reading done.
Fieldwork - Known for their IPAs (whether west coast, double, dank, hazy, or juicy), this Berkeley brewery mainstay has some delicious kettle sours, dark beers, and farmhouse ales as well. The sandwiches, tamales and chips/salsa are catered by Comal but unlike Comal there are free refills on chips. Their head brewer is a fan of Bruce Springsteen, Gilmore Girls, and videogames so expect some pun-derful brew names.
Hoi Polloi- A wonderfully funky and hip microbrewery with a delectably diverse selection of socially and politically conscious brews. Delicious truffle popcorn for free and outside food allowed. Good music and criterion/silly film vibes.
Westbrae Biergarten - All-outdoor seating. Kid/dog friendly.
Gilman Brewing Company - Industrial-style brewery in a converted warehouse. Multiple floors of seating.
Ocean View Brew Works - Small brewery that celebrates Albany's history and offers tallboys. Small outdoor patio. Occasionally has public science talks on the first Thursday of the month
The Pub on Solano - Cozy pub with fireplace and some outdoor seating. Neighborhood hangout in a converted home.
Hotsy Totsy - Dive bar with fancy cocktails. "Weird" movies on screen (do not go here on a first date or with your parents). Shuffleboard. Insanely delicious taco truck outside.
Tierney's Sports Bar - Albany Bowl's in-house bar.
Club Mallard - Log cabin. Pool table. Called "Mallard Club" by those in the know.
Albany Taproom - Delicious beers and burgers.
Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room - All varieties of Sierra Nevada beer available. Flights.
Missouri Lounge (MOLO) - Beautiful dive interior. Carwash exterior. Used to have great quarters tables. Sometimes smells like rats. Dancing. All boozes available. Dogs allowed. Sweaty on Friday nights. DJs every night of the week. Sometimes that means "DJs." BRING BACK THE PULLED PORK SANDWICH.
Albatross Pub - Board games. Popcorn. Wood everything. Cash-only. Oldest pub in Berkeley.
Wolfhound - Dive bar with a mellow vibe.
Prizefighter - Beer, cocktails, nice outdoor and indoor seating, and a wall of plants.
The Rare Barrel - Nice outdoor seating, mostly sours. Nice hot (spiked) drinks for colder nights.
Nick's Lounge - Best (carpeted) karaoke joint on the planet, populated by insanely talented regulars who heartily welcome new blood. Experience it for yourself.
