Austin Buckle, a sophomore, is thriving as a three sport athlete, math whiz and will possibly be on television in the major leagues for baseball.
Buckle is heavily involved in sports. He plays football, basketball and baseball. Buckle is a wide receiver or safety, point guard second base or outfield. He has played baseball his whole life and it's his favorite sport.
One of his dreams is to play baseball after high school, and continue after college to play in the major leagues. If not, he wants to own a business. His love for baseball was inspired by his role model, his dad.
“I look up to my dad because he had similar interests growing up, he always knew a lot and has helped train me,” Buckle said.
Buckle's dad has greatly impacted his love for sports, especially baseball.
“People really underestimate me, because of my height,” Buckle said. “But it’s always fun to prove them wrong.”
Buckle is 5’6, which gets him overlooked until they see him perform.
Academically, Buckle does well. His favorite subject is math because he is very good at it. However, Mr. Zimmerman, the U.S. History teacher, is his favorite because of his teaching style.
“I like the environment, the people and the sports here,” Buckle said. These factors really drew him to the school.
