The Badin Banner

Pitch perfect

Ryan Kirkendall is in his third year at Badin and playing baseball in and out of school. Playing since he was four years old, Kirkendall has been in love with this sport ever since.

“My biggest inspiration is my dad, he is definitely the best coach I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t be the player and more importantly the person I am today without him,” Kirkendall said.

Though Kirkendall looks up to his father, he also looks up to Todd Frazier, a professional player who played in the Little League World Series and previously played on our own Cincinnati Reds.

“If I could play for a professional baseball team, I would play for the Cincinnati Reds. I think it would be cool to play for our hometown team,” Kirkendall said.

Usually playing shortstop, Ryan uses the ballfield as a way to enjoy time with his friends and to escape from school and everyday stress.
