Youthful Rams golf led by Schwartz

by Ryan Kirkendall

The boys golf season is in full swing, and with no seniors on the varsity squad, there’s a lot of promise for the young team. Leading the team this year is sophomore Andrew Schwartz. Schwartz, who’s played golf for 8 years, has a passion and appreciation for the game.

“I love golf so much because I love competing against others. It is also exciting because it changes everytime you go out. The course is never the same. You never hit the ball to the same spot, the hole is never in the same part of the green, and you hit a different club every hole,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz attributes his love and success in golf to his father.

“My dad got me into the game, and has supported me in helping me learn and get better at golf,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz, as with many other golfers, has a favorite club.

“My go to club is probably my nine iron. I can use that club anywhere within 140 yards and I trust it.”

As well as a favorite club, Schwartz also has a favorite course.

“My favorite course to play is probably GreyHawk, which is the course we played when varsity went up to Cleveland for a tournament,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz is excited about the squad this year, and what this group is capable now and in the future.

“We are a young team, we have no seniors on varsity and we have four returners. We have experience and I think we are going to make an impact within the next year or two,” Schwartz said.
