When you hear the word “game” what is the first thing your mind thinks of? Many would think of sports while others may think of video games. For sophomore Seth Wasburn-Moses the word “game” makes him think of the fantastical.
Tabletop role playing games are board games in which players create characters with sets of skills and must describe the actions they would like to take in the world they are placed in. At the same time another player known as the Game Master creates scenarios and obstacles in the world that the players must overcome. Seth loves these tabletop games so much he decided to start a club after school at Badin to hangout and play them with others. Some of Seth’s favorite games to play during the club are BattleTech and Cyberpunk 2020.
“It’s all about improvisation so I love setting up challenging scenarios for my friends, but I also think it’s funny to see what kind of crazy situations they get into by themselves,'' Seth answered when asked about his favorite part of the club.
When he’s not at school or running the club, Seth enjoys reading, watching movies, and gaming whenever he has free time.
“My favorite movies are definitely the ones in the Dark Knight trilogy and my favorite book is a World War II novel about a guy who gets stuck in the Air Force called Catch-22 by Joseph Heller”.
Sophomore Jenny Blackburn, a good friend of Seth’s, was asked about her thoughts on Seth and the club he runs at Badin.
“Seth is incredibly smart but never holds it above anyone. The club is so nice for us to hangout and Seth makes sure everyone has a good time and feels welcomed.”
Seth plans to attend Miami University in Oxford majoring in game design after High School. After college he plans to get a job at IGN, an American video game and entertainment media website.
