Lauren Harris: Animal Rescuer

If you see an animal in need of help, just call senior Lauren Harris. Lauren spends her free time playing with all of her rescued animals.

Lauren says she loves playing with animals because, “It takes my mind off things.”

Animals have always been stress relievers for humans. The therapy dog at Badin, Rudy, is meant to do just that.

When Lauren was asked what the most significant thing about herself is she said that she has rescued many animals that live with her.

Lauren is compassionate and takes pride in helping out the animals. She loves to help them when they really need it.

“I found my cats, Milo and Penny, on the side of the road in boxes. My dog Kelbie was rescued from dog racing. Her dad was the fastest dog in the world,” Harris said.

The side of the road is a common place for Lauren to adopt cats. However, her dog was acquired differently. She will adopt pets as long as they need help, which Kelbie needed.

Everybody wants to know, what does Lauren like more, cats or dogs?

”I like cats because because they don’t need as much care. They don’t slobber, and they don’t smell,” Harris said.
