Everyone has either heard about or seen someone vaping, whether it’s in the school bathroom or at their home. Vaping is a serious problem and one junior, Evan Warner, is here to stop it.
“I was confused as to why people use them,” Evan said after first learning about Juuls.
Warner has since been an anti-vaping advocate and has been warning people about the harmful effects since the beginning. This is a very sensitive subject to Evan because it affects him on a personal level.
Warner is very active in stopping teen vaping and is urging people to “spread awareness of the recent fatalities.” This is the only way he thinks people will stop.
Vaping has had some effect on everyone’s life and it’s taken a toll with Evan too. He’s had friends who vape and he is scared for their health because of recent lung illnesses that cannot be cured.
Vaping in school can be especially dangerous because of the discipline involved.
“Some people I know got suspended from school and ruined their future,” Warner said. He warns that vaping can not only affect your health but it can also be put on your permanent school record if you get caught doing it.
Warner feels that people still think that vaping is healthier than cigarettes when that is just not the case. Many people are still addicted and the only way we can stop it is by spreading awareness and using fear to battle addiction.
When asked about what we could do about this rapidly growing problem, Warner gave the only advice he could give which is to “Spread awareness of the recent fatalities.”
Six people have died and over 450 people have a disease that seems incurable.
To all the teens that think vaping is cool, Warner says, “S-T-O-P!”
