I began working with the SI program at ACC the first semester it was offered as a student support service at the college. Nominated by my professor, my role that semester was to support math classes as an SI Leader. I was attracted to the program because I felt it was a fun and efficient way for students to digest the material they received in the classroom.
I have a bachelor's degree in music with a minor in business from Texas State University (Eat 'Em Up, Cats). I have two young children, and spend most of my spare time hanging with the fam, and recording, producing, and performing music.
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

I have been an SI leader since Spring 2021, where the pandemic response forced us to learn and integrate how best to provide learning assistance in an online capacity. I am now stepping into the role of SI Specialist and I'm so excited to be a part of the SI Team in this way. I hold a double BS in Child Learning Development and Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas. My favorite subject to SI for, you ask? Anatomy and Physiology II
When I had spare time, I used to enjoy video games, choral singing, and true crime content. Now, "spare time" is just a fantasy of the not-recently-baby-birthing variety. Still, I'm loving the new addition(s) to my family.

Well, hi, y'all! 🤠
My time as a chemistry SI Leader at Tarleton State University was pivotal to my undergrad experience–getting to be creative in instruction piqued my interest in innovative educational practices–and inspired me to pursue graduate school. So after double majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minoring in Mathematics, I switched tracks to an M.S. in Chemistry Education Research from Portland State University where my thesis research involved Bloom’s Taxonomy (which I learned about in SI!) In my spare time, I am a swing dancer and an avid reader--I am always happy to discuss whatever you’re reading!
The SI Mentors are experienced SI Leaders who provide support to the whole SI Department, both Leaders and Admin. Mentors work with Admin to create and facilitate departmental trainings, conduct session observations, as well as work directly with SI Leaders in their respective cohorts to offer guidance, community building, and support for adminstrative duties and session facilitation.

I have been with the SI Program since 2018, working with a variety of Philosophy courses over the years. I currently work with Dr. Sherry Blum, helping students through their Philosophy of Ethics course which focuses on racial justice.
Since starting my role as an SI Leader, I have developed a fascination with how we think and learn about the world. I get to witness the learning process first hand, recognizing the beautiful variety of thought processes, study techniques, and line of questioning that goes through students’ minds. Because of the skills and experiences as an SI Leader, I’ve decided to pursue a career in the world of education!
I graduated from ACC with my Associate Degree in Philosophy Fall of ‘21, and transferred to University of Texas at Austin to work on my double major in Philosophy and Education. In my free time from work and school, you’ll find me rolling around on my bike, spending time in my garden, practicing and teaching yoga, staring at trees, enjoying conversations with strangers, and spending time with people I love.
I’m stoked to meet and work with y’all! Reach out if you ever wanna chat :)

Welcome to the team!
My name is Nuria Doubleday, and I'm so excited to tell you about my journey with the SI program! I started in the spring of 2019 and have supported many Spanish classes from SPAN-1411, 1412, & 2311, SPAN Honors, and ITAL-1411.
Why am I an SI Leader?
Well, I absolutely love helping students succeed in their classes. I also love making them feel welcome, accepted, and showing them that they matter to me.
What do I do in my free time?
If I am not holding a session. I am usually volunteering at Student Life. I am also a member of the Scholarship Committee at ACC. I earned my AA degree in History, AA in Foreign Language-Spanish and I am a Certified Interpreter and Translator.
Why am I a mentor?
Because I have been in your shoes. I know what it is like to have all those butterflies in the stomach, and kind of afraid of the unknown.
My promise to you:
I promise that I am going to help and guide you through your journey in this amazing program. Together we are going to build a successful SI Leaders Team!

I have been an SI Leader for Korean I-IV since 2023, with this being my first semester as a mentor! I started as a student of Korean while completing my associate’s degree in psychology, and later got nominated by my professor once I had studied all the levels ACC offered. As someone who always enjoyed teaching and everything related to education, I was happy to become an SI as it was an opportunity for me to help and connect with students, fostering their passion for learning new languages.
My hobbies include watching movies (and updating my letterboxd), painting, listening to music, and journaling.
I am so so excited to be working with everyone this semester, please reach out if you ever need anything or just want to yap for a bit!

Hi there, I’m Emily!
I began my SI journey in 2024, first as a student working to master Organic Chemistry, and later as a leader myself. I'm so excited to help other SILs as a mentor!
I love SI because it helps students build confidence by learning together. My own path has been a bit unconventional: I earned my degree in Classical Languages at UT Austin in 2020, taught English and ESL for three years in RRISD, and later returned to ACC as a post-bacc pre-med student. SI lets me keep sharing my passion for learning while helping others succeed!
Outside of class, I work as a Biochemistry research assistant at UT. I’ve lived in Austin for over ten years and enjoy reading, plants, music, art, and all things science. At home, my husband and I stay busy with our daughter and five cats.

I started working for the ACC SI program in Fall 2018 after taking my first math class in over 6 years. It was through SI that I discovered my passion for educating others and from that point on I dedicated myself to furthering my mathematical education. I am currently a Senior at Texas State University, finishing up my bachelor of science degree in Mathematics with an English minor. When I'm not working on math, I am an avid rock climber and distance runner. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone this semester!

Hi there!
I have been an SI leader since 2023 for both general chemistry and organic chemistry. I became an SI because I wanted to help students succeed in achieving their goal and provide a safe learning environment. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
I graduated with my bachelors in Health and Society from UT Austin in 2020, and I am working towards applying to med school! I have two dogs named Maxine and Star who mean the world to me! My hobbies include gaming, crochet, and baking!

During my first semester in the SI program, I had the good fortune of leading a great group of students online as an SI leader while I attended SI sessions in-person as a student. The concurrent experiences provided me with an appreciation for impactful peer-to-peer learning.
I graduated with an Associates in Biology at ACC in Spring 2025 and I plan to transfer to a four-year university in the fall of 2026. As an officer in ACC’s Geology Club, I spend my free time trying to create fun and educational learning experiences for my fellow club members. Otherwise, I’m hanging out with my chihuahua partner, Oscar, going on mini-adventures with my family, or helping out on my mother’s ranch.
I look forward to meeting you and expanding our SI leader skill sets together!

I joined the SI Program in Fall 2024. I’ve always enjoyed being in the academic space and helping students reach their full potential. Watching students become more confident is the best part about being an SI.
I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2020 with a degree in Professional Writing. However, I have always had a passion for physics, astronomy, and math — hence me ending up as a math SI.
In my free time, you can find me making travel videos, choreographing dances with my cousins, or building the ultimate team comp in Genshin Impact.
Looking forward to this semester with y’all!
Each SI Mentor will work closely with their respective Cohort throughout the semester. These Cohorts are collaborative groups of SI Leaders where Mentors and SI Leaders alike can support each other by sharing session activities, offer advice to overcome challenges, and more!
Each Cohort will be made up of approximately 10-15 SI Leaders.
Cohorts are organized by discipline, grouping Mentors with SI Leaders who work in the same area of study (e.g. World Languages, Humanities, STEM).
SI Leaders will be assigned to their Cohort at the start of the semester, and will meet members of their Cohort during the in-person Pre-Semester Training.
Members of each Cohort will be added to a chat space where they can get support from fellow SI Leaders, ask questions, and share ideas.
Alongside regularly communicating with and providing support to their Cohort, Mentors will review the administrative work of their SI Leaders. At the end of each pay period, Mentors will review session plans, confirm session attendance, and offer feedback to their SI Leaders.
